The Big Six Lymphatic Release for Plantar Fasciitis
One of the most overlooked aspects of plantar fascia pain is inflammation. When fluid builds up around the fascia overnight, it explains why those first few steps in the morning feel so sharp. To help the body clear this inflammation more efficiently, we can use a technique called the Big Six Lymphatic Release. This is a technique pioneered by Perry Nicholson. If you look up big six lymphatic release on YouTube you will find videos on how to do this by Perry himself.
What Is the Lymphatic System?
Your lymphatic system is like the body’s filter. It clears waste, toxins, and excess fluid from tissues. But when the lymph becomes blocked, inflammation builds up — especially in areas far from the heart, such as the feet.
Because the plantar fascia sits at the very bottom of the body, it is particularly vulnerable. If fluid isn’t cleared properly, pain and stiffness increase. The Big Six Lymphatic Release helps unblock this system, getting fluid moving again.
How the Big Six Works
The technique involves massaging or tapping six key areas of lymph nodes in the body. These must be worked in order, from the top down, to allow fluid to flow properly:
1. Just under the collarbone
2. Side of the neck
3. Under the arms
4. Abdomen (just below the ribs)
5. Groin
6. Behind the knees
By stimulating these areas, you “open up the drains” of the body, allowing inflammation in the feet to clear more effectively.
How to Do It
• Use gentle rubbing, tapping, or stroking motions at each site.
• Work through all six areas in order, starting at the collarbone and ending at the knees.
• Perform the sequence once per day.
It’s simple, quick, and surprisingly effective at reducing morning pain and stiffness.
Detox Reactions
As your body clears out old waste and toxins, you may notice some temporary side effects such as:
• Headaches
• Tiredness or fatigue
• Brain fog
• Soreness
• Skin irritation
• A temporary flare in symptoms
These are normal signs that your lymphatic system is doing its job. If they persist or worsen, take a break for a few days before continuing.
Important Safety Note
Do not perform the Big Six Lymphatic Release if you are:
• Pregnant
• Living with heart or circulation disorders
• Suffering from an acute infection
This is not a medical treatment but rather an optional wellness strategy to help support your recovery.
Why It Helps Plantar Fascia Pain and Plantar Fasciitis
By clearing inflammation from the fascia more effectively, you:
• Reduce morning pain.
• Speed up recovery.
• Support the work of the other exercises in this program.
Think of it as helping the body’s plumbing system. When the drains are clear, the foot has a much better chance to heal.
