Psychometrics. Just because an applicant is super fit does not mean they wont injure themselves, or be a good fit for the company. I always believed there was a better holistic way to assess an applicant. The easiest way I can explain this is by telling a short story.
A common theme I noticed when I was working in the mines (as a physio) is that there is always an old bloke in the workshop, usually a diesel fitter who never injured himself. Meanwhile, there was always young fit guys hurting themselves. What's the difference I asked myself? The old guy knew his capabilities and was creative in his solutions, meanwhile the young fit guy would be more inclined to do things quicker but at a higher risk. What was the point of hiring the fit person if they were gonna hurt themselves anyway? What was the point of that fancy assessment?
I have been so turned off by pre-employment assessment effectiveness that I left the pre-employment industry until I discovered the Fitworker 360 system. Finally, I found something that I believe in. By combining the physical with the mental and behavioural an employer can view a candidates risk profile and make better decisions when hiring someone. See the iceberg below to understand what is assessed in more detail. In the past I would just assess the top of the iceberg, now I have a system that looks at everything and really works.
